Strengthen Healthcare Systems

Our Vision

We will lead the discovery, evaluation, and dissemination of solutions that address urgent challenges in the delivery of healthcare. We will inform the creation of high-performing, cost-effective, and equitable systems of care in which patients’ values and goals guide decisions. And we will partner with underserved communities worldwide to improve healthcare delivery and health equity.

Through our educational programs, our impact will be exponential—as we inspire physicians, nurses, business leaders, and policy makers to lead the change that’s needed in healthcare.

Design new ways of delivering care. We will design, test, and evaluate solutions to improve the quality of and access to care at lower costs. We will inform medical practice and public policy, and promote the widespread adoption of the best, evidence-based solutions. We will advocate for transparency and accountability in costs and outcomes.

Advance health equity and prepare health leaders of the future. We will provide hands-on, real-world learning opportunities for learners across Dartmouth. Students will gain the professional and interpersonal skills, the cultural humility, and the experience needed to work effectively within interdisciplinary, multi-national teams and in medically underserved communities in the U.S. and worldwide.

Empower patients and communities to achieve better health. We will engage individuals and communities as full partners not just in care decisions but also in the creation of care tools, systems, and programs.

Leading this important work at Geisel are three centers: The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, the Center for Global Health Equity, and the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health.
